Laugh at Life with Me Vol 1

Laugh at Life with Me: From a Little Bajan Woman’s Perspective (Volume I)
Author: Esther Austin
ISBN: 0-9545918-0-1

Price: £6.00

This little book of comedy is the first in the Laugh at Life series. It is a wholesome book about life’s daily sagas from a mother’s perspective. Daily sagas which would otherwise have many of us reaching for a cocktail of rum, vodka and whiskey or a brick. Yet in a way many of the tales told in this book are things we can all related to.

So follow the author as she tries to get her children to understand the importance of washing their own clothes, using soap and not just water. Experience her panic and dilemma as she proposes to sit her two children down to discuss the birds and the bees. Experience her disgust as she is offered a date by a man not more than 5ft.

This book will have you in stitches. A must buy. Read an Extract from this book

Laugh at Life with Me Vol 2

Laugh at Life with Me (Some More): From a Little Bajan Woman’s Perspective (Volume II)
Author: Esther Austin
ISBN: 0-9545918-1-x

Price: £6.00

Once again, Esther Austin has captured more of life’s crazy experiences and sagas in another fantastic book of comedy. She is both brazen and bold enough to write about issues which we all would normally be too embarrassed to disclose, yet which many have experienced.

So follow her as she talks about how “black people don’t do pets” – where the only place for them is outside in the back garden in a hut called Armageddon. Then visit her indoors as she struggles to keep up with the constant heavy eating thing, as her two ever growing boys go on an eating mission, as is famine was around the corner.

PMT - now ladies this one is certainly one for you. Experience the flip side of life as Satan steals the show here enticing the author to have a stand-off fighting match in a very, very very large hypermarket – and experience the “shame” effect when she realises she could well be captured on CCTV.

Laugh at Life with Me: Teenagers Vol 3

Laugh at Life with Me: Teenagers (Volume III)
Author: Esther Austin
ISBN: 978-1-4259-4387-5
Publisher: Authorhouse

Price: £8.99

Laugh at Life with Me: Teenagers is the third in the Laugh at Life series. This particular book charts the journey from a mother’s perspective and that of her son as he goes though the transition from boy to teenager.

The dimensions of this book are a little more serious than the other two in the series as it focuses more on the importance of valuing standards which as a 60’s babe, the author was raised on. So reflection on morals, standards, behaviour, respect, discipline and pride very much take centre stage in this book. It is also a book of encouragement for many young people enabling them to realise their potential and the uniqueness of each and every one of them.

The book explores the rewards and challenges of bringing up children. Yet it is all part of life’s fantastic journey and a learning and education journey – a birth of many pains.

So amongst all this the author truly hopes that her eldest son’s rampaging hormones do not confuse his mind so that he cannot differentiate between books and boobs. Empathise with her as she struggles with the girlfriend phenomena and the amount of attention her son has began to attract, hoping that she does not come across as a jealous, malicious and insecure mother as she walks the streets by her son’s side with the evil eye look and a brick in her hand.

So I hope this book not only entertains you, but as always, endears you to seek beyond the humour to identify elements of truth.  Read an Extract from this book
